Taste and Sniff by rieke-b Taste and Sniff by rieke-b
More winter art to cool you down a bit on hot days. ;)
I finally got to paint wolverines! (Watercolours with opaque white, A4.)

This was heavily inspired by one of my favourite artists, Rien Poortvliet (1932-1995), two documentaries about Scandinavia and Finland (which can be a true paradise for predators, especially in winter), and these two great photos by one of my favourite animal photographers here at DA, :iconpicturebypali: , who inspired me to give one of the wolverines a “snowy smile”: [link]

You like snow :D I guess I'd like it better if it was winter right now.
I'm just so astonished and proud when I see your paintings and I remember the things you were drawing when I met you a long time ago :D and even back then I thought you were really good! *Schleimspur*

I love wolverines, this is really great. I especially like the use of the cool blue against the warm brown of the wolverines and the tree trunks, along with the snowy white :)

Aww, so glad you like it.
I had quite a lot of work with the background, so I'm glad it turned out well.

Thank you for stopping by!

This is a nice respite from the literal 101 degree heat we're having today! HOT HOT! :sun:

The maze of whites and blues are so hypnotizing...then you see the awesome wolverines exploring, so cute! Nice snow beard ;)

:-O You're not using the same unit of measurement as we do, so I can't really imagine how hot that is exactly, but I guess it's quite hot... Over 30 degrees Celsius, I guess?
It has become warmer over here, too. I just love to paint winter paintings in summer, haha!

Thank you so much! The background was very time-consuming because I needed many layers. Phew!
Wolverines are quite easy to paint. In the documentary I saw, one of them was really chewing on an old tree trunk like this and was making a funny face. :D

:o Oh that's right! Let's use a converter...101 Fahrenheit to me is 38 Celsius for you.

Backgrounds tend to be so tedious (for me atleast), but when you get to the fun part (animals of course!) it makes it so worth it. ;) You must watch a lot of documentaries! I don't as much...but I need to. :D

Oh, Fahrenheit, of course! ^^; That's really hot! :omfg:

Sure, I'm also always looking forward to painting the animal in the centre. ;) But backgrounds are a lot of fun, too, of course!
I'm not watching many documentaries at the moment, but I have a lot of DVDs. :D
