91 (who?)
Leni and Tony by rieke-b Leni and Tony by rieke-b
In loving memory of Tony (2000?-20.10.2014).

Old description from July 2012:

Watercolours, 18x13cm.
The photo, which showed one of the first moments of our two terrier mixes of them being close to each other, was taken in 2010. I didn’t like the background, so I decided to make a watercolour painting out of it.

This moment, which also shows their different personalities nicely, happened a few months after we got Tony (right). He was already 9 or 10 years old, Leni (left) was born in 2004. We got her when she was four months old.

When she was younger, Leni behaved aggressively towards other dogs and dominantly towards us, so we had to learn a lot about dogs. When we got Tony, we were able to keep have two dogs living together peacefully. Leni is a very clever, sporty dog who gets nervous easily. Tony, on the other hand, is often very slow and a kind old guy. When we’re outside, they walk next to us and often sniff at the same place (sometimes under the chin of the other dog). Many people we meet think that they’re related (which they aren’t) and keep wondering about how peaceful it can be to have two dogs… They’re both very stubborn, though, so we have to be even more stubborn than them. :D

Even though they’re very different and don’t play with each other, they give us a lot of sweet little moments that make us smile. I believe they’re good for each other because they don’t expect too much of the other dog.

It’s really funny how you can love two dogs in a different way without favouring one of them...

In liebevoller Erinnerung an Tony (2000?-20.10.2014).

Alte Bildbeschreibung (Juli 2012):

Aquarell, 18x13cm.

What a beautiful piece. =)
Love the way you created the fur to create that softness and defintiely enjoy the scene.
You've captured both dogs wonderfully and even though they don't play with each other, the piece shows at least a respect and care for one another. Fantastic and so cute.

:D They do make a great team despite not liking each other! Tolerating each other atleast. ;) You showed me a picture with them being walked and they were close to the camera, you should paint that one too! And put capes on them because t hey looked like courageous super dogs. XD LOL. Great idea to keep the background white. With Tony being older you'd think he's lose some of his spunk. I'm assuming he's still as stubborn as ever even though he's an old guy! ;)

They do feel connected, that's for sure. ;) When they haven't seen each other for a while, Leni always runs to him to say hello, it's very cute.
Yaaay, super dogs! :D Tony is actually more self-assured than Leni, but she becomes defensive quickly because she's actually afraid... Tony surely is stubborn! He never walks around things, but always over or under them, or he steps right into his water bowl. :-O What does spunk mean, by the way? :)

Awww! They won't admit they like each other at first but they can't stay away. Too cute! :meow:
"Spunk" means feisty, confrontational or self-assured enough to flaunt it. ;)

Haha! It really depends on the situation and the mood they're in. The most important thing is that we keep control... and never leave them alone when food is involved. :-O
Hehe, spunk sounds great! I need some more of that, too. :D
