Watercolour painting "Madam's freshening up", painted from one of my own photos.

Painting this felt sometimes a little like doing calligraphy...

Original, A4 (29,7x21cm), watercolour paper 200g/m², varnished with acrylic matt spray film and is unframed.

The mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) is the biggest and most well-known dabbling duck of Europe. The camouflage-coloured females aren't as noticeable as the drakes with their shimmering green heads, but the females produce the characteristic quacking call. They're often half-tame town birds and eat many different things. Feeding ducks with bread can severely change the ecology of a water habitat, though!

Die Stockente (Anas platyrhynchos) ist die größte und bekannteste heimische Schwimmente. Die tarnfarbenen Weibchen sind längst nicht so auffällig wie die Erpel mit ihrem schillern grünen Kopf, doch von den Weibchen stammt der charakteristisch quakende, in der Tonhöhe absinkende Ruf. Sie sind oft als halbzahme Stadtvögel anzutreffen und ernähren sich vielseitig. Die Fütterung von Enten mit Brot kann jedoch den ökologischen Zustand eines Gewässers stark verändern!
