Blumenduft - Smell of Flowersby ~rieke-b

Traditional Art / Paintings / Animals

A small watercolour painting (about 21x15cm) with some sprays of opaque white.
I had to paint this quickly as a last-minute Christmas present for my granny. She loves kittens, puppies and other cute animals.

I think animals that might often be referred to as “ugly” (e.g. naked mole rats, goblin sharks or the mata mata turtle) also deserve a lot of love and respect. I’d love to paint them, too, one day.

Technically, I think this is one of my best watercolour paintings so far. I like it a lot, even though (or just because?) it took me only about 2 ½ hours to complete.

Ein kleines Aquarell (ca. 21x15cm) mit einigen Spritzern Deckweiß.
Ich musste dieses Bild schnell malen, als Last-Minute-Weihnachtsgeschenk für meine Oma. Sie mag Kätzchen, Hundewelpen und andere niedliche Tiere.

Ich finde, dass auch Tiere, die vermutlich oft als „hässlich“ bezeichnet werden (z. B. Nacktmulle, Koboldhaie und die Fransenschildkröte), viel Liebe und Respekt verdienen. Ich würde sie jedenfalls auch sehr gerne irgendwann malen.

Technisch gesehen ist dies wohl eines meiner besten Aquarelle bisher. Ich mag es sehr, obwohl (oder gerade weil?) ich dafür nur etwa 2 ½ Stunden gebraucht habe.
